The 29th Annual Holiday Stroll in South Hadley will occur on Friday, December 1st at the Town Common on Route 116.  This will be the 29th year that the South Hadley & Granby Chamber of Commerce has hosted this gift to the community - a family oriented launch of the Holiday Season.  The holiday lights on the Common, sponsored by SHELD, will be first lighted at 6:10PM that evening and on every evening thereafter during the holidays.

The activities will begin on the Common at 5:30PM, and the entertainment will commence at 5:45PM with music by the Berkshire Hills Music Academy Troupe, followed by the Santa Claus Parade at 6:00PM.  The Parade will feature the South Hadley High School Marching Band leading Santa from the District 2 Fire Station to the Common and then onto the College Street Bypass.  Following Santa's arrival he will be hearing children's Christmas wish lists and be available for pictures with the kids on the Town Bandstand.  There will be other activities for the children on the Common including cookie decorating, Christmas card making, and much more.

The entertainment schedule after Santa's arrival will be as follows:

      6:10            Tree Lighting

6:15             Etienne Perley on the Pan Flute

6:30            Berkshire Hills Music Academy Vocal Group

      6:45            LifePoint Church Choir

      7:00           South Hadley Community Band

There will be hot chocolate available, provided by the Yarde House.  Across the street at the South Hadley Post Office children will be able to write and mail their letters to the North Pole, aided by our Post Office employees.  And of course, the Village Commons stores and restaurants will be open to welcome you.

A community event like this is the product of the support of businesses and individuals, and the volunteerism of many.  Thanks to the wonderful sponsors for this year's Holiday Stroll:  SHELD, PeoplesBank, The Village Commons, Easthampton Savings Bank, Westfield Bank, Florence Savings Bank, Paul Boudreau, Jubinville Insurance, Loomis Communities, Chap De Laine's Furniture, Big Y, and BRW Electronics (Northampton & Brattleboro).  Also Thank You to the Town of South Hadley and Selectboard, South Hadley Fire District 2, Brighter Beginnings Child Care, Village Eye Care, and the Yarde House for all their help.
