South Hadley – The South Hadley & Granby Chamber of Commerce will host a very special After 5 on Wednesday, August 15th at 5:00pm at the New Community Center at Mount Holyoke College.
This will be our opportunity to see this wonderful addition to the college campus, complete with tours of the new Dining Commons and Pub. Our “Sneak Peek” evening will also feature Lobster Sliders and other treats, dessert trays, non-alcoholic beverages, and a cash bar. As usual, there will be ample time for chatting with colleagues, and we are hoping that many of our new members will be in attendance so they can be introduced. Because this is before the start of Mount Holyoke’s school year, we will be able to park in any visitor, unmarked, or faculty and staff parking spaces in the area of the College green and on the Lower Lake road.

The South Hadley Canal Park Committee and Town of South Hadley will hold a dedication ceremony for the newly named and recently renovated Ted Belsky Overlook at Hadley Falls Canal Park at 11am Saturday May 12. The Committee will unveil the new plaque which will be permanently displayed in Ted’s memory. The Overlook is located on Canal Street adjacent to the Red Cliff Canoe Club. The public is invited to attend this free and open-to-all event.
Recent renovation of the Overlook by the Town of South Hadley is completed. Please join with Ted’s family and colleagues to acknowledge Ted’s enduring efforts to document the historic significance of the Hadley Falls Canal and to applaud his advocacy for its protection, conservation, and preservation.

The 9th Annual Leprechaun Plunge, "The Coolest Party in Town", is back!
The Plunge is an annual event helping selected local charities. Plunge participants raise pledges for a charity from our list in the weeks leading up to the Plunge and, on the day of the event, plunge into the frigid waters of the Connecticut River at Bunelle's Marina (1 Alvord Street, South Hadley). The party begins at 11am, and the Plunge is at 2PM.

Speaker: Paulina Borrego is a Science & Engineering Librarian at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Soon after becoming a librarian in 2007 she took on the role of the Patent & Trademark Resource Center (PTRC) Librarian in 2009. She is trained by the USPTO (United States Patent & Trademark Office) to educate patrons about patents and trademarks, the application process, and how to conduct an effective and thorough search. She works in the UMass Amherst Science & Engineering Library which is open to the public.
